Habs Shutout Isles-Habs 3, Isles 0

Sounds like I missed a good game. The Montreal Canadiens picked up their first shutout of the season with a 3-0 victory over the New York Islanders. Jaroslav Halak made 40 saves and Andrei Markov paced the offence with a pair of goals in his first game back. The Markov story couldn't have been written any better. He once again proved just how valuable he is to the Montreal Canadiens. Glen Metropolit had the other Canadiens goal while Tomas Plekanec picked up another 2 assists. Martin Biron made 25 saves for the Isles, who went 0/6 with the man advantage, with 3 of those penalties going to Plekanec in the 2nd period. The Habs power play was on fire going 3/5.

It was a much needed win for the Canadiens in the first game of their long seven game road trip. Markov is a difference maker, that much is true. Having him on the ice for 20+ minutes a night is going to helped this team. Brian Gionta is also close to returning, possibly by Wednesday which would be another huge boost. I didn't get to see the game, so the Silver Wolf Whiskey Hab of the game is a tough one. On one hand it sounds like Halak was amazing, but with the return of Andrei Markov I had to give it to him with his 2 goal performance. Halak and Gomez get honorable mentions. Next up is the Thrashers on Monday.
